Chile now has its first hospital with a fully automated supply chain

Requirements

The Hospital required a logistic system with which to ensure traceability of its medicines and medications and a system for preparing orders quickly and efficiently.

Proposed solution

The extensive experience and knowhow of ULMA in the health sector were essential in developing this project, which is considered a pioneer due its conceptualisation and design.

The logistic system is managed by 2 horizontal carousels created by ULMA, a warehouse management system and a grouped picking system, based on Pick to Light Systems devices. Nevertheless, the core of the project is the storage and picking system (horizontal carousels), which were designed to increase production rates as much as possible, whilst reducing to the minimum the number of movements and transport operations. The result is a reliable and completely flexible solution, which permits perfect integration with other logistical systems.

Result

Automated logistics provides complete management of medication traceability: from its receipt in the hospital warehouse to delivery and consumption by the patient.
