WEG

ULMA Handling Systems has successfully completed a demanding modernization project for the automated storage system of WEG’s Metallurgical Department, the Brazilian multinational and global leader in electric motor production.

Requirements

To upgrade a key facility without stopping plant operations. WEG needed to replace an obsolete stacker crane and update the conveyor systems and other critical components, all within a very limited window: the year-end collective holiday shutdown. A highly complex challenge that ULMA undertook and completed in just 23 days.

Proposed solution

The project included the removal of the existing equipment and the installation of a new state-of-the-art Daifuku stacker crane, a strategic partner of ULMA Handling Systems for more than four decades and a global benchmark in the sector. Additionally, the project involved a comprehensive upgrade of conveyors and the renewal of various system components to optimize the overall performance of the facility.

Result

Thanks to this intervention, the Guaramirim plant (Santa Catarina, Brazil) now has a more efficient and reliable intralogistics system, ready to support WEG’s growth while improving productivity and ensuring operational continuity.

Projects like this reflect ULMA Handling Systems’ commitment to each client: understanding their needs, adapting to their timelines, and executing with precision even in the most demanding scenarios.
