IMBANACO improves the quality of service thanks to the project developed by ULMA
Requirements
Improving the quality of the service, keeping the stock controls in real time and improving the traceability of the medications were the specific objectives that Imbanaco had set itself on undertaking this large-scale project.
Proposed solution
The project comprises an automated warehouse managed with 2 horizontal carousels designed by ULMA, a storage management system and a grouped order picking system based on Pick to Light devices.
In order to increase safety, productivity preparation of medicines in single format, ULMA has implemented a vertical carousel in Pharmacy warehouse built by a Pick to Light system, guaranteeing a safe classification of orders. Furthermore, ULMA has supplied machinery for repacking the unidosis drugs and has implemented the Pick to Light system for preparing dispensing carts.
Plant stores (12 Clinical Services) are the other areas where Imbanaco Medical Center has benefited from the logistics solution designed by ULMA. These warehouses now have 40 automatic dispensing modules that ensure the safety and accurate dispensing of goods of different clinical services.
Undoubtedly, the management software of ULMA, IK HEALTH, is the key element that allows the control and traceability throughout the logistics system, optimizing processes and ensuring comprehensive control of medicines and supplies, from receipt at the warehouse to dispensed to the patient.
Result
The logistics automation allows the medical centre to exercise complete control over the traceability of its medications: from receipt in the hospital warehouse to delivery to and consumption by the patient. Likewise, it considerably reduces the rate of errors in the order picking system and increases the speed, agility and quality of the service; in summary, a way to provide safe medical care, whilst protecting and safeguarding the lives of the patients.
