FUDIKE

FUDIKE, a steel casting company that produces parts for industrial equipment manufacturers, puts its trust in ULMA Handling Systems for a logistic solution that combines simplicity and flexibility.

It is now very easy to know which tools are in Fudike’s possession and where they are located. Locating them and making them available is now much faster whether for dispatches or for production.

Requirements

For its new 3,4000-square metre factory, Fudike has implemented the latest technological advances in production equipment and internal logistics. With regard to the latter, Fudike has chosen a semi-automatic storage, fully supplied and designed with ULMA Handling Systems, used to contain the tools used to manufacture the parts.

Proposed solution

These tools, or moulds, are made of wood, and have different lengths and weights that vary between 5 and 600 kg, which involves a greater level of complexity and industriousness for the internal movements, from the production area to the storage and vice versa.

The project implemented by ULMA Handling Systems for FUDIKE consisted of the installation of a casting models warehouse with mobile shelves, in order to make better use of the space, with models, pallets and spaces identified by means of barcodes, all controlled with a WMS.

For Asier Zabarte, the company’s manager, “the organisation of a moulds warehouse has always been a problem for casting companies, because of space and volume constraints for the moulds, and the movements the moulds generate, both internal, in terms of the production and maintenance phases, and external, when it is necessary to resort to model makers or other casting companies“.

Zabarte clarifies that the models can go to production; to model makers for repairs or modifications; to other casting companies, which may also use them to make parts for the same purpose, or send them directly to the client, which in almost all cases is the owner of the tools.

Result

Thanks to the design and commissioning of the new storage, managing the storage has become much more flexible, given that each mould, with this new approach, does not have a predetermined place in the installation.

The project, according to the Fudike Manager, has had a direct impact on the organisation and management of the company’s internal logistics: “It is now much easier to know which tools are in Fudike’s possession and where they are located. Locating them and making them available is now much faster whether for dispatches to outside clients/companies or for production“, according to Zabarte.
